Gum Overgrowth

Gingival overgrowth is when the gum grows, causing gingival hyperplasia and swelling. Medications, hereditary, and poor oral hygiene during orthodontic treatment are among the causes of gum overgrowth. The treatment of gingival overgrowth starts with cleaning around the teeth and eventually surgical intervention. If the gingival overgrowth is caused by medication, a medical consult with a physician might be needed.
